Mau and Carin measured water clarity along the Fulton Chain of Lakes using a Secchi disk specifically designed for participants of the MTC event. Water clarity is an indicator of the health of our ADK lakes. MTC has been measuring water clarity for several summers. Our yearly reports can be found on our Home page.
The Boon family also conducted their annual Fourth Lake bottom cleanup again this summer.
Senator Mark Walczyk and his incredible staff picked up trash along Route 28 in Thendara. We are honored and grateful for their continued support!
Sarah, Steve, and Ray (taking the photos) collected water samples using a Kemmerer water sampler for CSLAP (Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program), a volunteer-driven water-monitoring initiative co-managed by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and New York State Federation of Lake Associations, Inc. This beautiful and informative work of art by Sarah O'Conner is an example of choosing a self-directed, environmentally-focused project that inspires and highlights your strengths and talents. Stunning!

While out for a run around beautiful Moss Lake, Owen and Peter noticed trash left behind by hikers and campers at the registration area. Instead of walking past it, they took the time to clean it up and even recycled the bottles and cans they found. Their efforts didn't go unnoticed—a park ranger stopped to thank them for helping care for the park!
Brian has been hard at work again removing trash from the bottom of Seventh Lake! A huge thank you to Brian, our 2025 Best Project Award winner, for his years of dedication and unwavering support. Your relentless efforts help keep the Adirondacks clean, healthy, and beautiful for everyone.
Sam has spent about 10 years restoring the shoreline of his Fourth Lake family camp. He continues to expand the wildflowers where there was once grass. The first photo is an aerial shot of the property from a couple of decades ago.
